Scaling regenerative medicine
We’re transforming a $30K cell therapy into $300.
Our Story
Our company name, Asclepii, pays homage to "Asclepius," the Greek God of Wound Healing. Asclepius was known as “a healer of all wounds” and was able to bring people back even from death. We aim to make many little healers of all wounds, little Asclepiis.
When he was 13, Franco began working on “The Asclepius Project” after he began his first job working for a lab at the University of São Paulo called Nucel. When Franco was 16, his mother decided to move to Chile for a better life, and he stayed behind because he felt his role in this project wasn’t over.
Today, over US$1 MM and 7 countries later, we’re still going.
From the first cell therapy in the world, to cell therapy all over the world.

Building on a Legacy
Arnold Caplan: A pioneer in the Regenerative Medicine and Tissue Engineering field, the “father of mesenchymal stem cells”, creator of the world’s first FDA-Approved Cell Therapy, and Mentor to Franco and Miguel.
Franco continued his research under Dr. Caplan at CWRU. He chose CWRU and Cleveland because of Dr. Caplan, knowing few in the world rivaled his expertise in the field. Dr. Caplan passed in 2024, but his work and legacy lives on. We dedicate our work in remembrance of him.

A Message from our Founder & CEO
When I first got into my “scientific pre-initiation” program in middle school in Brazil, I was paired with a mentor, Carolina, who was very passionate about regenerative medicine, cellular, and molecular biology. She had a Masters in Regenerative Medicine, in which her concentration was Mesenchymal Stem Cells. She spent a lot of time working with MSCs, their responses to stress, and different ways of expanding MSC cultures with various growth factors or conditions. She was very passionate about the field. And it was contagious. She started giving me some of her old books and papers to read, but the first paper she ever gave me was Arnold Caplan’s 1991 paper, “Mesenchymal Stem Cells”.
It was the first paper I ever read. I fell in love with the field, and have been ever since. Science has changed my life completely - from learning to doing; from dreaming of the impossible to thinking beyond it. I got to travel the world, and met people I never imagined I would have the chance to meet - truly impactful people like Arnold!
Most importantly: in science, I found a home. I found a family, and a way to make an impact. And it has been through the incredible mentorship that I was so fortunate to receive that I have been able to truly find my passion and become the person I am today. Thanks for being a part of Asclepii!
